Ayer Affordable Housing Trust funds 12 for 2026 rental assistance

Ayer Affordable Housing Trust approves 2026 rental assistance and CPC funding. Chair Shaun Copeland presided over a meeting in which the Trust unanimously approved funding for 12 participants in the 2026 Ayer Rental Assistance Program and updated program guidelines to allow disabled individuals to reapply for a fourth year of assistance. The Trust also unanimously approved a $200,000 Community Preservation Committee funding request, allocating $72,000 for program support and $128,000 to build affordable housing reserves.
Administrator Alicia Hersey announced a March 31 retirement, with a replacement to be hired before her departure. The Devenscrest property, transferred in December to Devenscrest Village Partners LLC, adds 114 units to the state housing inventory, bringing Ayer to nine percent affordable housing.
