Town officials are highlighting the achievements of Ayer's youth and academic institutions as the new school year nears, while the Select Board prepares to meet Monday evening at Town Hall.
TOWN HALL
The Town of Ayer this week celebrated recent accomplishments by Ayer youth and the academic institutions they attend, framing the recognitions as a send-off before the new school year begins. The town's announcement did not detail specific individual honors but positioned the achievements as a highlight of the summer.
The Select Board is scheduled to meet Monday, August 31, according to the town's online calendar. Also that week, the Department of Public Works begins its fall hydrant flushing program, a previously announced effort that continues into the coming days.
The town also continues to promote its September Primary Election Guide, published earlier in the week, as a resource for voters ahead of the fall ballot.
SCHOOLS
Ayer Shirley Regional High School's football program is gearing up for the season, with a non-conference matchup against Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School set for September 4, according to schedule data. No district policy or calendar announcements were issued in the coverage window beyond the town's general note celebrating student achievement ahead of the new school year.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Ayer Library's newly announced Thursday evening hours, extending access until 8 p.m. starting September 1, remain on track as the library's most recent scheduling change. The library continues to promote its summer programming wind-down alongside its online catalog and CW MARS network resources, which give cardholders access to millions of items across more than 160 member libraries.
