Ayer Posts Proposal to Overhaul Devens Governance Structure

AYER — Town hall's website is highlighting a proposed overhaul of how Devens is governed and word that a stop-work order on the Lincoln Hills project has been lifted, the two most notable items posted to the town's official site as of Friday.

The town has posted a notice outlining proposed changes to the Devens governance structure, though the posting does not detail the specific changes under consideration. Devens, the former Army base shared among Ayer, Harvard and Shirley, has long operated under a distinct regional governance arrangement, so any structural change would be worth residents' attention as more detail becomes available.

Separately, the town confirmed in a posted statement that a stop-work order at the Lincoln Hills project has been lifted, clearing the way for work to resume there.

Town hall also flagged two standing items: a call for volunteers to join the Council on Aging Board of Directors, and a reminder that real estate and personal property first-quarter taxes are due.
