Ayer Tax Taking Proceeds at Noon as Town Eyes Holiday Closures

The town's Collector of Taxes held a tax taking at noon today at Town Hall, the most time-sensitive item on Ayer's calendar as June 30 marks a key date on the municipal tax cycle.

The Office of the Collector of Taxes conducted a notice of tax taking today at noon at Town Hall. Property owners subject to the taking had until that hour to resolve outstanding obligations. Residents with questions about their tax status should contact the Collector's office at 1 Main Street or call 978-772-8220.

Looking ahead, Town Hall and Department of Public Works offices will both be closed Friday, July 3, in observation of Independence Day, and the Transfer Station will also be closed that day. Normal operations are expected to resume the following Monday, July 7.

The town's 2025 Water Quality Report is now available for residents to review, and mandatory water restrictions remain in effect as of May 1, 2026. The town has also posted information on proposed changes to the Devens governance structure; residents can find details on the town's website at ayer.ma.us.
