AYER — Board of Health approves updated animal-keeping regulations. Ayer's Board of Health voted unanimously to approve revised regulations governing the keeping of animals and fowl, introducing a tiered late-fee structure for permit renewal violations and adding new consultation requirements with the Conservation Agent and Zoning Officer. Pamela L.
Papineau, Chair, opened the public hearing, during which residents raised concerns about proposed late fees and inspection notice procedures. The Board reduced the first-offense late fee to $25. The updated regulations also include information on prevention of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza and rodent control.
Board member Patricia A. Peters reported on the Nashoba Health Equity Partners' efforts to address the local hospital closure through telehealth options at local libraries.
