Capital committee considers 2.7 million in DPW requests
Capital Planning Committee · Meeting of January 8, 2026
Ayer Capital Planning Committee reviews 2.7 million in DPW capital requests for fiscal 2027. Committee Chair Chris Tavares and members received a presentation from DPW Director Dan Van Schalkwyk covering seven divisions, including requests for $550,000 for water main replacement, $500,000 for wastewater inflow and infiltration repairs, and $230,000 for stormwater drain upgrades. Town Manager Robert Pontbriand and Van Schalkwyk recommended funding $425,000 in PFAS media replacements from settlement monies received from PFAS manufacturers, which would reduce capital budget impact and mitigate water rate increases.
The committee will review capital requests from Fire, Police, and Facilities departments on January 22.
