Conservation Commission continues Sawyer May roadway hearing, plans February 26 decision.

Conservation Commission · Meeting of February 12, 2026

AYER — Conservation Commission defers decision on Sawyer May, LLC roadway and stormwater project to February 26. Client Joe Cataldo and consultant Shawn Malone presented revised plans for a drainage basin crossing a wetlands resource area buffer; the commission asked them to examine whether relocating the drainage pipe to avoid the 25-foot buffer zone is feasible. Member Jon Schmalenberger requested engineering review of the alternative routing.

The project totals approximately 55,000 square feet of disturbance designed to preserve vernal pool and wetland habitat continuity. Cataldo noted that Fish and Wildlife approvals remain pending, limiting immediate construction timeline.
