Select Board awards two DPW contracts, advances zoning amendment, reviews NextGen microgrid proposal.

Ayer Select Board unanimously awards nearly $700,000 in public works contracts and reviews solar microgrid plan. Chair Jannice L. Livingston and members Christopher E.

Tavares and Shaun C. Copeland approved DPW contracts: $548,560 to CHB Excavating for Bishop Road water main extension and $151,920 to ECF Construction for Mill Street drainage improvements addressing a bridge culvert closed since October 2025. NextGen Energy presented its Keep Lights on MA Initiative, proposing a 10MW community solar microgrid that could generate at least $1.5 million annually to Ayer beginning in year six of a 20-year partnership; Town Manager Robert Pontbriand said the memorandum of understanding would return for discussion March 17.

The board also voted unanimously to refer proposed zoning amendments permitting exterior vinyl business window signs to the Planning Board.
