Other Committee · Meeting of September 28, 2026
Ayer's Community Preservation Committee votes 7-0 to send a $66,000 dog park shade structure to Town Meeting. Chaired by Janet Providakis, the committee heard from DPW representative Dan, who said the shade structure was cut from the dog park's original 2018 design for lack of funds and that four trees near the park's benches have since died from construction-related soil disturbance. The $66,000 request, drawn from the committee's $1,388,079.02 open-space reserve, covers a metal-roofed structure and tree replacement, with a possible cost-saving partnership forming with Nashoba Valley Technical High School.
"I think we'll have a good relationship on this," Dan told the committee. The article now goes to the Select Board on October 6 ahead of an October 26 Town Meeting vote at Ayer High School.
