Ayer Economic Development Committee Ends 120-Day COVID Loan Forbearance Unanimously

AYER -- December 3, 2020, Ayer's Economic Development Committee voted unanimously to end a 120-day COVID forbearance on town loans, effective December 2020. Staff member Alan told the board he had confirmed with three of four affected borrowers, Calvin, Randy Fermanic of African Controls, and Kevin Bacon, that all were prepared to return to normal payment schedules. The motion was made by Frank Callahan and seconded by a member identified as Nick. The committee also learned that John Jarvis, associated with the Jack O'Lantern package store, is exploring a commercial facade and signage loan after a vehicle struck the building; the program offers the first $10,000 interest-free with roughly 2 percent on amounts above that threshold. The panel moved to executive session to discuss matters involving Morris Babcock and the Neshoba Club restaurant.
