Conservation · Meeting of August 27, 2026

Ayer Conservation Commission continued two wetlands hearings to September 10, one over a clerical notice error and one at the applicant's request. Conservation Agent Heather Hampson told the board she had mistakenly advertised the Groton School Road culvert hearing under "Groton Harvard Road," forcing a re-advertisement; abutter notices were unaffected. A continued hearing on Peace Properties' Chapter 40B housing proposal at 65 Fitchburg Road was pushed to the same date after an email from Matt Byrne requesting more time pending state comment.

Vice Chair George D. Bacon Jr. moved both continuances, each approved unanimously by voice vote. Hampson also reported illegal dumping that formed "a dam in the Brook with trash" in Bennett's Brook, now under Ayer police investigation, and said she will present the town's draft tree preservation bylaw to the Select Board on August 31 ahead of the October 26 fall Town Meeting.

The meeting, which opened at 7 p.m., adjourned at 7:23 p.m.
