Ayer Conservation Commission Clears Deer Run Yard Project, Continues Orion Park Road Hearing

AYER — June 25, 2026 — Ayer Conservation Commission unanimously clears a Deer Run yard cleanup and again delays a road-extension hearing awaiting state sign-off. At its June 25 meeting, the four-member panel — chaired by Vice Chair George Bacon in the absence of Chair Jessica Gino — voted to issue a negative determination of applicability for applicant Danielle Richard's proposal to remove three declining trees, clear overgrowth, and establish lawn at 50 Deer Run, finding the work well outside the 100-foot buffer of the nearest jurisdictional stream. Conservation staff noted the determination, which must be mailed to the state with a 10-day window before work may begin, would be written to include both tree removal and lawn installation. On the Sawyer May, LLC Notice of Intent for roadway and utility work on Orion Park Drive, the commission continued the public hearing to July 9 after applicant representative Joe Cataldo reported the project is still awaiting a determination letter from the Massachusetts Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Program — a delay staff attributed partly to complications over a conservation restriction on a previously approved four-lot subdivision plan.
